Riflesmith Inc. has been manufacturing sights since 1973 for most rifles from the 1800's. We have not compromised the original design. In 1989 we incorporated the Axtell Rifle Company and began production of
'THE NEW MODEL 1877 SHARPS'
All of our sight parts are machined from bar stock, are hand finished, and nitre blued in the original manner.
The internal working parts of the rifles are heat-treated tool steel. Each receiver is X-rayed to insure perfection. The color case hardening is performed in the original manner; charcoal and bone. The stocks are hand finished in our shop. All checkering is hand done by Pat Paulsen (who also raises Scotties). Our "Target Grade Badger Barrels" have cut rifling, are polished, and hand lapped.
We have an excellent in-shop crew and also many fine craftsmen that do contract work for us.
